The Design Share Party @ Basha Uhuru is an annual event where Young Artists and people concerned with Art share their work and inspiration. The Design Share Party @ Basha Uhuru talks began in 2014 with one idea in mind: to become a place where people could go and listen to young creatives share their thoughts, works and lives. It’s core purpose is celebrating Youth Month through freedom of artistic expression.

Where creatives and anyone interested in creative culture can network in a conducive environment. It is an event where we blur the line between experienced and younger speakers in order to facilitate skills transfer. In 2014 attendance surpassed our expectations with over 500 people attending the event. We decided to make the event an annual feature on Joburg’s creative calendar. Entry is free and the talks are held in an informal, accessible atmosphere.

BASHA UHURU RIDE FREE 2015
HECTOR PIETERSON MEMORIAL

Time: 9:00am

The aim of “Ride Free” is to link two vitally important South African heritage sites, Constitution Hill and The Hector Pieterson Museum. Celebrating 21 years of democracy with a cycle tour from Soweto to Braamfontein, using the bicycle as the mode of transport from the past into the future. Both heritage sites represent the struggle that our country has overcome and it is important that the youth of today understand and remember the relevance of the historical events that took place on the 16th of June 1976. “Ride Free,”will bring people together for an uplifting and healthy activity, facilitating social cohesion and nation building at the same time as bridging history within the contemporary youth of South Africa – creating a “critical mass” of remembrance and in turn a positive collective movement into the future.

‘’Ride Free,” forms part of the Basha Uhuru Arts & Culture Youth Day Festival, which is where the “Ride Free,” participants will arrive on the other end of their journey. The riders will be greeted by the Basha Uhuru Sounds of Freedom Music Festival.
