Exploring New Sounds
One of South Africa’s most talented electronic musicians has released some new music. The enigmatic Felix Laband, released two tracks on his SoundCloud which aren’t clearly linked to being a part of any bigger projects.
While his previous album, Deaf Safari was based on the house and tech genres, the latest tracks see him exploring different sounds. On ‘Got My Bag Got My Reservation’ and ‘I Despise You = You’re Disgusting’ we hear the influence of hip-hop and beats with the latter of the tracks even emblazoned with trap sounding snare and 808 patterns. While the tracks are experimenting with different influences there is still something distinctly Felix Laband-y about them including the arpeggiated synths and spoken word samples.
