Submerged Acoustics

My first experience of Park Acoustics felt immense. The line-up was filled with big artists and the production was of a large scale with a considerable stage, rigged at the base of an amphitheatre on the grounds of the Voortrekker monument. I was astounded by the organiser’s ability to host these events on a monthly basis. However, my second experience of Park Acoustics was met with confusion. This time there were busses involved which transported us up the hill to a fort which was smaller than the original venue, but at the same location.

It turns out I was mistaken. The huge edition of Park Acoustics was an exception with only two to three hosted each year for special occasions. Those hosted at the smaller fort were the usual variety, which were hosted on a monthly basis and I would have to wait to relive my first experience of Park Acoustics.

With 2015 nearing its end, the wait is over. The special occasion is the final edition of Park Acoustics for the year and the organisors are going at it with no holds barred. The only negative aspect of my first experience at Park Acoustics was that I had to be at work the following morning. Real recognise real, so for the first time ever, the organisers will be hosting Park Acoustics on a Saturday. With another first, this month’s Park Acoustics will be headlined by local legends, Goldfish who need no introduction. Dominic Peters and David Poole have taken their interactive and live interpretation of electronic music all over the world including a residency at Ibiza super-club, Pacha. The duo has released a number of albums with their latest being a compilation album entitled, Goldfish Presents: Organic House 3.

Park Acoustics have also partnered with Jack Daniel’s, Griet, Mixed Apples and Bobbejaan to create a multi-genre experience which will see performances from Shortstraw, Sol Gems, BCUC, Sideshow, Haezer and more.
