Dickies Building The City

In Partnership with Habitat For Humanity

Two months ago, Dickies delighted Johannesburg with the opening of their pop-up store in Braamfontein. The workwear brand then changed it sights from injecting fashion to the culture, to giving back to the city. In line with its #BuildThisCity campaign and it having been youth month, Dickies channelled aid to the roots of tomorrows Johannesburg for the month of June.

In partnership with Habitat for Humanity, which is only two years younger than our democracy, Dickies brought their #BuildThisCity seasonal campaign to life in a literal sense. Habitat for Humanity plays its role in the breaking the cycle of poverty in South Africa with a strategy which builds strength, stability and self-reliance through a partnership or people, the public and private organisation.

In this case, the private organisation was Dickies, and the people were the community in and surrounding Isiboniso Secondary School in Orange Farm which is between Johannesburg and Vereeniging. Under the guidance and in partnership with those in the community who understand the needs of their community best, a team including volunteers from Dickies and Habitat for Humanity spent the day building a jungle gym and painting classrooms on the school property.

The Dickies #BuildThisCity campaign is all about recognising that we are the builders of the city want to live in. Fashioned from a foundation of heart and hardwork, the city is ours to rule with bravery and bold ideas. How are you building the city you want to live in? Check out some shots from the day at Isiboniso Secondary School below and let Dickies in on your bold ideas and actions on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.
