Realism battles idealism in ‘Liar’
Following the November release of YOUTH, Vox Portent worked with Jono Kay (on directing duties) to release the first video for the project. The track ‘Liar’ is the only track on the personal album featuring someone other than Vox Portent (Je Suis Ohne is another Steve Hogg project) which says a lot about the trust between Vox Portent and Thami 2 Shoes both creatively and in camaraderie.
The video sees Thami 2 Shoez caught between the caged reality of a 9-to-5 and the ideal freedom of the woods. Throughout the video we see Thami jut between the two in a dionysus conflict which is a recurring theme through YOUTH and youth itself: The reality of your circumstance or environment versus the ideal self we strive to be.
