Featuring Felix Laband, PHFat, Jullian Gomes and more local heavyweights
This December, Melos South Africa (which has seemingly popped out of nowhere) is bringing is bringing Maribou State to South Africa for two shows.
Our first encounter with the electronic music duo was their delicate deep house remix of Fatboy Slim’s ‘Praise You’ which we’ve come to appreciate more than the original. Surprisingly, Chris Davids and Liam Ivory who were previously in bands together had their first encounter with electronic music when they got the opportunity to remix a track for the band Hadouken at the age of 16.
The duo from England made their debut as Maribou State in 2011 with their Habitat EP. Since then, Maribou State has steadily built a glowing global reputation with an album, a string of well-loved EPs and a fistful of significant remixes which highlight their eclectic and downtempo production leanings steeped in classic hip-hop.
Maribou State will be performing in Cape Town at The Castle of Good Hope on the 8th of December and Johannesburg at The Good Luck Bar on the 9th of December. Both events will see support from a diverse and star-studded local line-up including Felix Laband, Christian Tiger School, PHFat, Akio, DJ Lag, Kidfonque, Nonku Phiri, P-Kuttah and Julian Gomes.
With a plethora of genres on offer, both events are a sure bet for your summer calendar. Tickets are available via Computicket at R250 per ticket. Purchase your tickets here or find out how you can win double tickets below.
