“Let Music Be The Master”

Life is cyclical and one is able to notice a cultural pattern where the zeitgeist of a historical period is brought to current times. Recently, we’ve seen this nostalgic trend epitomized in the reimagining of history with countless 80’s movies remakes, the resurgence of 90’s fashion, and the Pokemon craze which recently consumed the entire globe.

In the case of Jason Oosthuizen, former Van Coke Kartel and Black Cat Bones drummer, the sentimental longing is for the music of one of the biggest bands of the 70’s: Led Zeppelin. The musician who has been playing for 26 years credits much of his playing style to that of John Bonham who was esteemed for his “speed, power, fast bass-drumming, distinctive sound and feel for the groove”

Jason Oosthuizen has assembled some local rock legends to perform a tribute to Led Zeppelin. The tribute show will be hosted at The Good Luck Bar on the 5th of November.

While Led Zeppelin is one of the hardest bands to imitate or interpret both musically and vocally, Oosthuizen has brought in some of the most experienced artists to pull it off. The band consists of Jason Oosthuizen playing drums, Martin Cito Otto (Wonderboom) on vocals, Neil Breytenbach (Prime Circle) playing keys, Chris Van Der Walt (Black Cat Bones) playing bass and Werner Bosman playing the guitar.
