Celebrating Jozi

3 years ago Don’t Party, Kesh-In-Transit, and Andrew The DJ joined forces to create sub_urban state. The goal was to combine their strengths to create an event “aimed at gathering good people together, to explore different scenery and music at different locations , with the goal of of celebrating Jozi.”

Fast forward 3 years, a venue change, and whole lot of free tickets and the team has built a party brand which is an essential in the calendar of anybody who enjoys good times and good music. Come rain or sunshine the production and organisation at sub_urban state events is always stellar and it all takes place at a South African heritage site – an old prison yard in the heart of Constitution Hill. However, the main draw card for sub_urban state has to be the curation of their line-ups. Not only do they get Johannesburg to visit a site that many of them may have never visited, they also get the massive to listen to and enjoy music they may have never listened to. The line-ups are always a progressive and eclectic mix of local producers and DJs.

The next edition of sub_urban state takes place on Saturday and will play host to liver’s first of last album launch with support from JAG, Kid Robot vs. Phizicist, Andrew The DJ, trancemicsoul, Dank, Tommy Gun, Mix n Blend, and PHFat.

it’s time to celebrate again and we’re bringing the occasion to a bubble – we’re hosting liver’s album launch.

liver is one of the sub_urban founders, who, until recently, dropped out of the public music space to “find himself”, focusing on other things and working his love and passion back for the art.

it has been a few months, but all good things come to those who wait. at this sub_urban state, we’re pulling down the curtains to reveal a place where all are welcome to join in a chorus as we toast to liver and his new album – first of last – and we’re bringing a whole bunch of our friends in to celebrate.
