Black Motion’s search for sounds

Presenting the first ever ‘Beat of Africa’

What are the sounds of a nation? What beats and rhythms do its people make? If Africa were an album, what would it sound like? Ballantine’s Scotch Whisky has begun a journey to discover the answers to these questions.

Partnering with SAMA-winning, platinum-selling duo Black Motion, Ballantine’s wants to find the sounds that make South Africa, and Africa unique. They will do this by collecting, curating and collaborating and using those everyday sounds, rhythms and beats to co-create one incomparable album: the Ballantine’s Beat of Africa.

Music is the heartbeat of Africa. It inspires us, moves us and brings us together. The partnership between Ballantine’s and Black Motion is rooted in authenticity and music; the belief that staying true to what you believe in produces results beyond expectation. The Beat of Africa will echo this ethos by creating an album that is distinctly unique; the product of country and continent-wide sharing, collaboration and a common love of African-inspired music.

That’s why Ballantine’s wants you to help discover the Stay True song of a nation, the everyday sounds and rhythms that make South Africa the place it is. The sound of a continent, born in the streets of a country. You decide what the #BeatOfAfrica is.

Check out the video with more information on how to submit your sound, here.

The campaign begins with your submissions. Everyone is encouraged to share the sounds, rhythms and beats you feel define your nation and make it home. Share your sounds, images or words describing sounds at TheBeatOfAfrica.com, or tag a link on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram with #BeatOfAfrica. Every submission stands a chance to win an all-expenses paid, VIP trip for two to the Beat of Africa album launch party in Johannesburg later in the year.
