First Single Off His Forthcoming Sophomore Album Kintsugi

Following the release of his critically acclaimed debut album Sipho The Gift went quiet. At least according to hip-hop standards. In the age of hyper consumption where hip-hop officially holds the crown as the most popular music , it’s rare to see a hip-hop artist stay quiet in terms of releases.

In the 2 years since the release of his Coming Of Age album, we’ve only seen three new tracks released on his SoundCloud and quite a bit has changed outside of the music. The most recent of which, ‘Asanda’, was an anti-blesser anthem which has now been removed from his SoundCloud.

The grossly underhyped rapper has since changed labels, signing with Cape Town-based Rude World Records as he gears up for the release of his sophomore album. The album is titled Kintsugi which is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with a lacquer mixed with gold, silver or platinum. As with his debut album, we expect a personal album delving into the cracks and silver linings of the past two years.

‘The Man’ is the first single off Kintsugi which was released last week. As with the majority of Sipho The Gifts music, the beat was produced by him. The track is symbolic for a first single which clearly suggests that the young adult has come of age.
