First single taken from upcoming album AIR
myageisdigital is the alternative electronica project of former Mugshot frontman, Grant Sissons. Mugshot was a Johannesburg rock band which saw its success during the MK-era, but as the times changed so too did Grant Sissons musical focus – shifting from rock to electronica.
‘Reverie’ is the first single from myageisdigital’s AIR which will arrive almost four years following his debut release. AIR is due for independent release towards the end August via Sissons’ label Kidwithamatch records. Unlike previous releases, AIR will feature no collaborators or vocals with myageisdigital dialling into instrumental electronica.
In a release sent by email, myageisdigital says of the track and video for ‘Reverie’:
“I explored the idea of nostalgia, memories, and regrets as possible forms of escape (maybe even a trap) for our minds. I also scrutinised reality; Is it something tangible to be held and grasped or just something that our minds project onto the outside ‘world’? The protagonist in Reverie wants so much to be a part of another reality that she quite literally emerges herself in others’ thoughts and memories until we as the viewer are confused as to her actual reality, and maybe in watching her, confused about our own.”
