Park Acoustics with Mango Groove, Desmond & the Tutus, PHfat, Pop Art Live and more

It has become some sort of a ritual, for some at least, to attend Park Acoustics at the end of every month in Gauteng’s Jacaranda City, Pretoria. Lively folks arrive in their masses every last Sunday of the month to experience the best that local music has to offer, complemented by the best in local comedy. A combination in entertainment and music that is worth attending, even if it is your first time. As 2016 comes to an end, there is one last thing you need to think about…

Before you kick 2016 in the ass and move on and realise that time sure flies when you’re having fun, now it is time for the last Park Acoustics of 2016 with four stages and a 360 degree view of Pretoria, what more do you want?

As Griet celebrates their eighth birthday and fans flock from all over to support this great line-up, there is some sort of melancholy that kicks in as I scan the names of all the artists playing at the event.

After two decades in the music industry Mango Groove have finally released a new album Face to the Sun, that is the first release in seven years. I remember seeing Mango Groove live at Oppikoppi back in the day, which took me back to my childhood memories, singing along to their greatest hits whilst driving in the car with my parents.  This Park Acoustics we get to see a new live set with some of their new music, with the massive record sales aside, Mango Groove have primarily built their deserved reputation on their power as a live act. If you really want to understand the phenomenon that is Mango Groove, you simply have to see the band live in concert.

For all the diehard dance fans out there pulling through to Park Acoustics, you have to go and see Olugbenga Adelekan. He is the bass player of Metronomy, and as a solo electronic act, he is set to blow your mind. Rooted in hip hop and Afrobeats, his sets focuses on complex harmonies that are lively and refreshing. The drums always hit hard and even at its most faded, there’s always a melody creeping through the rhythm that you might know.

Let’s celebrate the last Park Acoustics together and support this platform that brings us over 12 hours of unforgettable music, beer and happy days.
