Watermark High peaks with self-titled LP

Musically beyond a debut offering

Anyone whose first encounter with Watermark High was his debut LP would be astounded to know that this self-titled album is a debut. That’s because the calibre of music suggests that the project is rather a third or fourth LP from someone who is fully aware of their identity and able to genuinely process a variety of influences.

The rest of us who have been following Watermark High since seeing the music video for “The Disconnect” on MK are mindful of the years of mastering his craft that has resulted in what is an impressive debut LP. His self-titled debut was preceded by 3 EP’s, the most recent of which being the For Good EP, which was released May 2015.

Watermark High teased the release of the debut with the swooning album opener “Unalone” and our early favourites include the glitchy “Limbo” and the album’s closing track “Approval Junkie”, which is the most effervescent track on the album. The LP is cohesive with a signature pensive inclination through each track and we approve.
