A flame fades, but so it starts again

It may come as a shock to some of the fans out there that Dance, You’re on Fire released a new single, but to me, it was just nostalgia kicking in. You remember those days when we all lied to our parents about having a sleepover and we actually went out and listened to bands while taking pleasure in drinking an ice-cold beer; that’s how I felt when I heard their new single ‘Get It Right’.

Three years later – they seem to be at it again, bringing their catchy musicality to the forefront of the stage. Dance, You’re On Fire is comprised of Tom Manners on vocals, Adrian Erasmus on the guitar, Jethro Vlag banging the drums and Josh Moys on bass; and here they are – ready to burn-up some old school nostalgia inside you as they take their creativity to the stage once again.

Back in 2010 Dance, You’re on Fire had six number one singles that led to frequent national tours and performances at several music festivals. In 2012, they secured the ‘Best Indie’ title during the MK Awards. In late 2013, the band announced that their flames were no more, until recently, when Tom Manner contacted Adrian Erasmus, suggesting it was time to start the writing process again.

The dark motifs explored through the lyrics on their older albums, such as Secret Chiefs, were presented maturely through the use of diverse musical style, ensuring that no two tracks sounded the same. With their latest single ‘Get It Right,’ the melody is simple, with well layered textured guitar riffs which compliment the bass, drum beat and musical movement of the keynotes that kick in.

They will be releasing new music throughout the remainder of the year, so be sure to catch Dance, You’re on Fire on stage. Their guitar solos in their latest track is a reminder that they are back, and if I would have it my way, ‘Get It Right’ would appear on repeat on many playlists.
