Love In The Astral Sphere

Selfir enfolds as the latest alias for South African producer Luc Vermeer. Vermeer makes up half of Christian Tiger School, one of the most compelling experimental Hip Hop duos in Cape Town, and also creates beats under the alias Desert Head. When working solo as Selfir, Veermeer explores more contemplative avenues, layering textures with blown-out bass grooves and rave era synth work. Ambience and elements of trap merge into one holistic whole.

Red Bull recently accepted Veermeer into the Red Bull Music Academy 2016 in Montreal, furthering the consensus that Veermeer’s future is as bright as it is blooming. Two tracks, ‘Dream State and ‘Say That Again, have just been released and seethes into the framework of Selfir as a solo project.

Progressive and sensuous, the entire stream longs for air. Slow breaths heave in and out of an ambient realm, seeking and finding an awareness of pleasure. We come to know language as an aroma, a breath, a gasp, a drop of dew in a void of desire – a coming together of more than souls alone. Deep bass grooves drive into the ether, surrounded by the static of closed eyes. Familiar once, strangers now – body finds body, and lovers blend being. This is love in the astral sphere.
