Watch Guy Buttery perform his latest material

A-chord-ingly calming

Guy Buttery released his self-titled album in February of this year. It was the stringed-instrument virtuoso’s sixth studio album and it saw him receive a South African Music Awards nomination in the classical or instrumental album category.

The album release was followed with a nationwide tour which was highlighted with a performance of his trance inducing compositions alongside the Kwazulu-Natal Philharmonic Orchestra at the Michael House Festival for what must have been a cathartic experience.

The team over at Are We Recording? Yeah invited Guy Buttery to close his nationwide tour with an intimate live recording at the Olsen and Basckin studios in Durban. Guy Buttery performs four tracks from his latest album alongside Gareth Gale on percussive duties. The performance is followed by an interview where Guy Buttery chats about the performing with a variety of artists on tour, the collaborative process of how his album came together and his journey and influences in the craft of guitar playing.
