“There’s is something about limitations that seems to make honest art”
We echoed the singles release and now, Go Barefoot have enlisted Meagan Connoly to choreograph the performance in their new video for ‘Hail’. The Tom Revington-directed clip sees three different couples performing a choreography filled with sad lulls and joyful flourishes interpreting the lyrical content and mood of the track. The video concludes with one of the couples tumbling to floor nestled in one another’s arms which speaks to the themes of self-exploration and destruction within a friendship.
Of the video, Go Barefoot said in a press release:
There’s is something about limitations that seems to make honest art – we are learning this as we explore how to create content in an independent and unique manner. In this case we had a very small budget to work with, so we searched for free locations around Johannesburg. We joined forces with wonderful people who were excited to be involved and willing to give their time for nothing more than creating something all together. The creation of this video had us thinking on our feet, so things happened like music, in the moment. The restrictions we face form the art and music we make. By the same notion, we have decided to produce the rest of our album by utilising unique spaces that bring rare flavours out of our personalities and writing.
