Encapsulating Loui Lvndn’s enigmatic persona

Loui Lvndn (pronounced London) has arrived and is seemingly here to stay. The self-proclaimed nomad who, in his own words, has lived in pretty much every province on this forsaken land, has finally released his long awaited debut EP Hikari.. Hikari, a Japanese term meaning ‘Light’ is an eclectic blend of RnB, Punk Rock, Trip-Hop and Electro and is a fitting introduction to the enigmatic persona of the singer, songwriter, rapper and visual artist, who has been slowly establishing his identity over the last three years.

The project takes inspiration from Petite Noir and Spoek Mathambo to Woodkid and Kid Cudi, the former who he’s managed to both collaborated with. His divergent style and production has taken him from the intimate setting of Kitchener’s stage in Braamfontein, where he screened his first video 2013, to performing at Oppikoppi Odyssey in 2014.

The 8-track EP opens with the electric “Unlovinyouland” and pretty much sets the tone for the rest of the project with the Woodkid sampling “Drugs” and its remix featuring Spoek Mathambo as the standout songs.
