Third single off their The Sad Kind Of Happy EP
We Are Charlie are currently in the process of releasing their third EP titled The Sad Kind Of Happy. Thus far we have echoed the first two singles off the EP being ‘Let’s Stare At The Sun’ and ‘Red Norton’. ‘Starting To Stop’, which is the latest release off the EP, was recently premiered on Hamman Time on 5FM.
The latest track also sees the band from Pretoria releasing their debut music video. The band enlisted the creative services of Thomas Revington and Meëk Meëk who played the role of director and art director respectively. The video features the band performing against the backdrop of Meëk Meëk’s abstract line art with two performers frantically expressing the feeling of losing one’s self.
In a press release, We Are Charlie had this to say about ‘Starting To Stop’:
The name came to us after a few too many drinks and a soppy conversation about growing up with a few screws loose. We were unjustifiably proud of ourselves for “starting to stop” with our bad habits. There is a girl in this one but she is and will never be real because the boy in the story can’t materialise anything worth his own weight in making bad decisions. A figment of his own imagination then?
